Sports are good
hi everybody,
it has been quite a while since i put a post on here. i have gotten a few emails asking where i have been so i decided i better get on here.
What a time to be a sports fan. We are in the middle of a good mlb postseason, college football has been fun this year with a lot of upsets and possible bcs busters. The NFL is in full swing and we have had multiple awesome games this year. And last but not least, the NBA season is about to start.
As far as MLB goes, as long as the phillies don’t win, i would be ok. Since my beloved, choking, no bullpen, mets once again choked on the last day of the year i have decided to root for the Rays. Other than that, as long as the phillies don’t win i will be fine. No disrespect to the Phillies, they actually have a great team and all of that, but i hate them.
The NFL has had a lot of surprises and a lot of good games this year. Last weeks Monday night game was a fun game to watch. Reggie Bush showed why he is a star of the league with 2 punts returned for touchdowns (he easily may have had 3 return tds but the was running so fast on one he tripped himself, or maybe it was Casper the ghost who tackled him). Once again we see how important turnovers are, the Saints dominated that game but because of multiple turnovers and an idiot kicker, they lose the game.
Another wild game was the colts and Texans. With less than 5 minutes left in the game, the colts were down 17 and hadn’t scored since the first quarter. Well the colts got one score, then the fun begins. Sage Rosenfels didn’t realize that all he had to do was be Trent Dilfer, not lost the game for his team. You have all seen the replays and know what happened but lets talk about this. Mr. Rosenfels fumbles twice within a couple of plays that leads to the colts scoring two more touchdowns and winning the game by 4. The most idiotic of his plays was his first fumble, he was scrambling and instead of sliding and taking a good gain, Sage decides to be John Elway in the Superbowl and jump int he air and get helicoptered by the defense. Unfortunaly for him, he is not Elway and he lost the ball and the colts d returned the fumble for a touchdown. Here is an interesting insite. The Colts were 3.5 point favorites in the game. Can you imagine if you had money on the game. If you had taken the Texans, you were feeling comfortable and excited about the win you had coming your way. Then you realize what just happened after Sage imploded and your day is ruined. Or on the other side, if you had taken the colts (which i think about 75-80% of the better did), after you had written the game off you either were pleasantly surprised when you saw the results or as you watched the game and Reggie Wayne made the unbelievable catch to go up by 4, you were thrilled. Once Rosenfels throws an interception on their last possession of the game, you decide for sure to name your next boy Sage.
I don’t know how many people read these blogs, but the first person who sends me and email and comments on this blog will receive a 50 dollar gift certificate to either the NFL store or best buy. Email me at support@ultimatefantasychamp.comand tell me who you want to win the world series, who is going to win the Superbowl, and if you know who my favorite basketball team is (there are hints below). Just email me your name, address, and your responses and who ever is first will get the certificate.
Ok, so i will comment just a little on the NBA since i have rambled on for quite a while. I am a season ticket holder for my favorite team and i am excited about having one of the best point guards in the league. And to give it away, Hollinder from ESPN predicted my team to win the west this year( and no, the lakers are not my team).
On to fantasy, Not to many surprises except the rookies this year have been pretty impressive. From Matt Forte, who is a serious stud, to Slaton, Desean Jackson, and others, the rookies this year are pretty good. Sounds like Westbrook is out again this week w/ cracked ribs, and don’t look now but pac man is in trouble again, and the TO soap opera is back on again after a brief strike.
Let me hear what you are thinking, email me something and i will post you email on the site. Let us know what you think, by the way, i am not Dr. Awesome.
thanks,
Drew
