Week 1 winners

September 17th, 2008

Better late than never!  Here are the winners from week one.

Pick’em

Jeffrey Rubenstein from NY

Jeff picked 12 games correct, no one else came close.

STUD CHALLENGE

Thomes Karraker won the week one stud challenge with total of 65 points.

Here are his picks:

wr: Randy Moss

rb: Michael Turner

qb: Peyton Manning

SURVIVOR PICK’EM

We had one sports genius who picked all of the games right.  The winner is:

Jeremy Hummel of Salt Lake City, Congrats Mr. Hummel

As the rest of you have noticed, you are still getting to pick in this game.  We figured since the game ended after week one, we would start over and let everyone play again, so good luck everyone!

SURVIVOR,

Update, first week loses to Indianapolis and San Diego shortened the field by quite a bit.  The field would have been really small if Kansas City would of beaten the Tom Bradly-less New England team.  But the patriots had a goal line stand and won by seven points and let most of our contestants exhale.

Week 2 Fantasy Hero’s by Dr. Awesome

September 12th, 2008

Fantasy Aficionados,

I have somehow convinced the powers that be within the hierarchy of Ultimate Fantasy Champ to post weekly picks on who I believe will lead you into fantasy super stardom. I am qualified to do this because I am a high level NFL executive, or maybe I am an unemployed sports fan that just spends his days and nights on the internet and within the airwaves of a television set, or maybe I am Jack Bauer and well you know what Jack wants Jack gets, I might possibly be Miley Cyrus and fantasy sports is one of my guilty pleasures. No matter I am either one of the aforementioned individuals or someone else entirely, but the important thing is I do know my fantasy sports and I will prove it over the course of the year.

Hero #1 – Ryan Grant – RB Green Bay Packers

I am a doctor, but you don’t need to be one to deduce this pick. Detroit helped Atlanta validate the money they paid Michael Turner during this offseason. Matt Milen might do a better job suiting up this weekend for Detroit and playing some D then in the front office this week.

Hero #2 – Ben Roethlisberger – QB Pittsburgh Steelers

I have a sneaky suspicion that Cleveland is not going to let fast Willie run wild this week. This game sets up perfectly for a shootout. Sunday night game, Cleveland couldn’t stop Romo, and Big Ben is due for a nice game at the Dog Pound as long as he doesn’t ride is chopper to the game.

Hero #3 – Larry Johnson – RB Kansas City Chiefs

When was the last time we could say Larry Johnson had a monster game………..a few years back. When was the last time the Raiders could stop anyone…………..well let’s just say VHS was still popular.

Hero #4 – Chad Ocho Cinco – WR Cincinnati Bengals

This guy has to be really upset. I mean legally he changes his name and can’t even put it on the back of his jersey. Does anyone but me believe that was one of the main reasons that he changed his name to see it on the back of his jersey? No one has had that cool of a name on their jersey since “He Hate Me” from the XFL. Chad has something to prove this week.

Hero #5 – T.O. – WR Dallas Cowboys

They have the Eagles on Monday night. Donovan Mcnabb didn’t go to his Christmas party. This is one of the two biggest games T.O. plays in during the regular season. The other one is when they play in Philly. Get your popcorn ready!

Hero #6 – New York Giants – Defense

Let’s be honest. They are still the defending champs and are playing inside against the hapless Rams. Look for several sacks, a few turnovers and Scott Linehan taking a lot of antacids.

This concludes my inaugural picks for Week 2. I look forward to patting myself on the back for my advice or calling myself a donkey whichever is more deserving. Let’s hope this week in the NFL has as much intrigue has Week 1 did, and that Vince Young can turn that frown of his upside down.

FALCONS

September 10th, 2008

Hey Drew,
I will try to offer my insights as often as possible.  I really want this site to work out for you guys.
I was the one who took a chance on Michael Turner and boy am I glad I did.  After spending time in San Diego and being stuck in the number 2 spot behind LT he had a real chance to make a name for himself in Atlanta.  While Falcon’s fans have not had much to cheer about in the off season, Turner has provided some life for the team.  Let us not forget that the new QB in town Matt Ryan didn’t look too bad either.

MIKE

Can’t we just talk about football?

September 9th, 2008

Here is the latest update for everyone.  Our web team is in the process of fixing the scoring for the leagues.  Yes last week will count.  Everything should be saved and after the system is tweaked and fixed it SHOULD be working.  I emphasize should because we have been told numerous times that everything should be working great but unfortunately so far there have been tons of bugs and most things have not worked the way we have envisioned.

Other than that, this is supposed to be fun.  This site is where the best and most die hard fantasy players play.  We want to be spending our time talking about football, waiver pick ups and anything else we want to in the world of fantasy sports and sports in general.

I do want to say thanks you all of the players on the site.  We have gotten a lot of great feedback from you, and we love that so many people think the ultimate fantasy tournament is a cool idea.  We have a lot of ideas that we think will make this site cool and fun.

Check back often to this blog, we plan on addressing a lot of the happenings that are going on in the NFL.  We plan on publishing our picks for the week, posting our fantasy studs of the week, and we will post any cool emails or questions that we receive from you.  If you want to ask a questions or make a statement, email us at: support@ultimatefantasychamp.com.  We of course always want to hear feedback on the site, and we also want to know what you are thinking.

As far as week one goes, the main talk is about Tom Brady, of course.  That sucks for Patriot fans and those who invested a first round pick in Mr. Super model.  I am mainly upset because I have Welker in my league and the injury will definatly hurt his value, in my opinion.  What about the Patriots though?  My buddy is a huge bills fan and after how good the bills looked, he is smiling big because he thinks they are the team to beat in the division now.  I guess we will see.

There is alot to discuss in the fantasy world from week one.  Willie Parker and Michael Turner had big weeks and alot of people avoided those two backs when drafting.  How good did rookie Eddie Royal look for the Broncos last night?  I have my thoughts and theories on these players and many others from last week, but i want to hear from you.  Email me your thoughts and questions and i will address them here.

thanks for listening,

Drew
